TEALERLAND - Tealer

Character model of 'Tealer the Dragon' from my free, independently-developed horror indie game, titled 'TEALERLAND': https://gamejolt.com/games/TEALERLAND/466109

The goal with this character model & design was to potray an uncanny & chaotic mascot, eroded and worn down by time. Various pieces like the mask sag, held together purely from haphazard stitching. The model's design was heavily inspired by photographs of abandoned Rock-afire Explosion mascots.

The model clocks in at about 320k tris unrendered - This was an asset for a game that used purely prerendered visuals (no realtime 3D graphics), so in order to preserve quality there were no major optimizations done or limitations taken into account.

The model's far from perfect (especially considering this is one of the first realistic character models I've done with lots of details) - certain angles and areas have far less polish than others (and UVs in some spots are wonky), due to both time constraints & the model being mostly only seen from the front side in-game. Regardless I loved the process of creating it, and I learned a lot from it, which I'm putting towards my newer models.

The model was finished in late 2020. These renders (or at least most of them) were done recently in 2022. The model went through roughly 3 remakes throughout the game's development as my skills improved with modeling, texturing and rigging - this is the final iteration of the character.

Modeled in Blender 2.83, rendered in Blender 3.3.0 (Cycles).
